Overview
MPG Group is seeking a qualified and experienced Safety Manager to join our team on a mining project in Middelburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining all Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality systems in line with legal, client, and company requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 / Matric
National Diploma or Degree in Safety Management or related field
COMSOC 1 & 2, SAMTRAC, or equivalent safety qualification
Exposure to ISO standards including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, or ISO 9001
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a mining or construction environment
Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act and applicable legislation
Strong incident investigation and risk assessment experience
Valid driver’s licence
Computer literacy — MS Office
Blasting Certificate or mining experience Advantageous
AMSPSA affiliation Advantageous
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all company safety standards and legal requirements
Conduct inspections, audits, and risk assessments
Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and safety campaigns
Investigate incidents and compile formal reports with corrective actions
Monitor contractor and employee compliance on site
Maintain SHEQ documentation, records, and systems
Liaise with client safety officers and client management
Promote a strong safety culture across all operations
